(Left) Me in the very early days of live streaming. (Right) Me after live streaming for 4 years.

Do you wake up every day praying for confidence? Are you playing small when an opportunity presents itself? Are you wondering why you feel inferior to your peers? Are you asking yourself, “What is it going to take to shake these thoughts of not being good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, or valuable enough?

Well then I am so happy I crossed your path today. This is the moment that you are going to take the first steps towards shedding your inferiority complex? You probably thought you were intimidated by others. I know because I thought that too, until I was reminded of the definitions for intimidated and inferiority by my friend, mentor, cheerleader, and (now) husband, Roy Montero. And do you know what I discovered? Here comes the eye-opener …

I was freaking LYING to myself … and you are too!! Being intimidated essentially means you fear being harmed by someone. But feeling inferior means you view yourself as LESS THAN someone else. Do you see the error of your thinking now?

These kids probably feel intimidated by the mom’s yelling … for fear she might hurt them.
The man on the right probably feels inferior to the man on the left.

Now that we got that out of the way, let me share with you how live streaming plus daily mentoring plus consistency led me to become the confident woman you see pictured below.

Look at the animation (hand gestures), smile, and eye contact with the camera! 5 years ago, you would have never seen me animated or making eye contact on camera.

When I started live streaming, I showed up with dim lighting, poor video resolution, sat farther back from the camera, looked at the computer screen instead of the camera lens, and pointed the camera further up (away from my face). In what other ways did I show up small (and feeling inferior)? Well, I spoke low and wasn’t animated unless I was with someone I already knew and felt safe with. I looked down a lot because I didn’t want anyone to see me … I mean REALLY see me!!! I wanted to shrink in the presence of others.

WHY did that feeling of inferiority melt away? What changed? The WHY was based upon the fact that I was sick and tired of feeling invisible. I was done hating on myself for reasons that were a LIE. But it also took daily mentoring and cheering on from a trusted friend (my confidant).

Roy Montero is my confidant, mentor, and daily cheerleader. He is the reason I kept pushing beyond my comfort zone. He never gave up on me, so I never gave up on myself!!

Find someone to be in your corner who will stir up and turn up the fire that’s already inside of you. Find someone who truly cares about your well-being. Find someone who desires to invest in you!! Align yourself with others who will check in with you daily and hold you accountable when you are ready to quit. Seek out those who will lift you up with #SincereCompliments and cheer you on.

And most importantly, surround yourself with people who will share other valuable people with you!!!

Read that last paragraph again!!!!

Once you have positive, inspiring, and uplifting people around you who are cheering you on … you can’t help but have confidence pouring out of you!!! Also remember that consistency is key when it comes to succeeding at anything you do. If I was not consistently live streaming, consistently learning, consistently being cheered on, and consistently being held accountable … the confidence would have only been for a season rather than a lifetime!!!

I’ll close with words from Maya Angelou … “now that you know better, do better”!!! Consider this your Personalized Service Announcement (PSA) from your friend-to-be — April 2.0.
